A smorgasbord of one ammo type ??? I thought smorgasbord offered a multiple of choices?

A gelatin test making comments ??? I thought individuals interpreting test results made comments, but apparently gelatin now speaks?

Sixteen rounds of controlled fire where three are total misses and the rest are spread all over the body including a hit in the paw ???

A Green Beret trained former soldier carrying JHP self-defense anti-personal rounds (i.e. human threat) as a bear load ???

I get the point the author was trying to make, but he took an "interesting" path getting there.

You can do it, but you've got to be quick, and accurate with what I'd consider a minimum of 3 shots to the head. Luckily (I guess) most all of the bears in our neck of the woods are black bears (despite being brown or golden) and they tend to steer clear of everything except human garbage. Our neighbood used to look like a buffet for bears before all the California transplants realized they had to get up early instead of leaving their garbage out the previous night. Now that I've rambled around as much as the original article I can get back to. Yeah I wouldn't n't trust less than three shots to the Head

That's what I was thinking. I get the bear is moving but two Green Berets at 10 and 5 yards. I'd think center mass would have been more concentrated.

And no I'm not shooting a grizzly or similar bear in the head if I can help it,. Hunting "lore" and publications are filled stories of a bullet not penetrating a bear skull. Even with a long gun. I guess the exception is the .22 lr., so long as you shoot it in the ear…

.41, .44, .454,. 500 S&W those ought to work…
