trench shotgun
A combat shotgun is a shotgun that is intended for use in an offensive role, typically by a military force. The earliest shotguns specifically designed for combat were the trench guns or trench shotguns issued in World War I. While limited in range, the multiple projectiles typically used in a shotgun shell provide increased hit probability unmatched by other small arms.
I have here a 1906 C series 1897. This gun was rebarreled with an authentic E series trench gun barrel, and has the correct lug indents.
Gun handles well, lock up is tight, bluing is 95-98%. I've put about 30 shells through it myself and if I was not bitten by the AR bug I would not be seeking...
About five years ago my Dad gave me a pretty worn Winchester 1897. He got it from my uncle and is not a gun guy so I was the natural choice to take it off his hands. It had a rusted barrel, chipped stock, and tons of dings and dents. Luckily the blueing was still pretty nice.
