caplock
The percussion cap or percussion primer, introduced in the early 1820s, is a type of single-use percussion ignition device for muzzle loader firearm locks enabling them to fire reliably in any weather condition. This crucial invention gave rise to the cap lock mechanism or percussion lock system using percussion caps struck by the hammer to set off the gunpowder charge in percussion guns including percussion rifles and cap and ball firearms. Any firearm using a caplock mechanism is a percussion gun. Any long gun with a cap-lock mechanism and rifled barrel is a percussion rifle. Cap and ball describes cap-lock firearms discharging a single bore-diameter spherical bullet with each shot.
.45 Kaintuk. Appears to be in pretty fair shape. Wood to metal fit leaves a bit to be desired, but it functions fine.
Will come packed and in a soft case. $160. Took it out today and shot it some and it does good with a ticking patched .440 rd ball.
I have a little percussion cap and ball pistol with a 6" barrel that i drilled out to a
smooth bore. It actually does ok with rd balls but shoots high. Needs
front sight built up or rear sight filed down. Will also kill tin cans out to 30' or so
with a load of shot. Would like $95 for it in or...
I have a made in Spain .45 cal Kentucky that is most likely a CVA or Jukar. Has no markings that
i can find except a serial number and SPAIN on the bottom of the barrel. Pulled the nipple and
oiled the threads. Could use just a little hammer tweek as it hits right on the edge of the cap.
But...
Not a bad little Investarms .58 smoothbore Hawken style. Started as a .50 cal
that i had taken out to a .58/24ga smothbore. It is actually closer to .60. I use standard
.20 ga wads in it. Has a bit of bluing wear and is marred a little, not bad, where
an attempt was made, by me, to remove the...
I have an Investarms Hawken Hunter that started life as a .50 cal rifle. I had it bored out to a .58 smoothbore
so you can fire a patched .570 rd ball for big game or load it with shot for small game and quail. Have both a
#11 and a musket cap nipple for it with the musket nipple installed now...
This is a package deal! Not looking to separate, ship or trade. One Thompson Center .45 Hawken style rifle, one Dikar Spain .45 pistol and one CVA Mountain pistol in .45. I might have some .45 round balls to throw in. Looking for $300 cash for all. I have not shot these but, they all pass...
I have an old smoothbore that started as a flintlock with a crappy lock,
so i converted it to a caplock by removing the pan, frizzen and spring and
placing a piece of steel in the jaws. Works great. Barrel was shortened to 26".
I have both musket cap nipple and #11 nipple. Have nearly 2 bags...

Has some small brass tacks in the buttstock as can be seen in pic.

I have a Traditions caplock blunderbuss that started out as a .54cal/32ga. I had it bored out to a .20ga/.60cal. Has a 14" barrel. They come with a cartoonish flared muzzle but i had it machined back, when it was bored out, to make it look less like an Elmer Fudd cartoon gun and also makes it...

Very solid professional conversion for use in the Civil war. Definitely a collectible, but also a shooter. Everything locks up tight, and functions accordingly.
Only issues are with the wood. One small crack, doesn’t affect functionality or safety, and where the ramrod seats. Common issue with...
