I took my first CCW class from Wes and have bought a few guns from him when I worked and went to school in Corvallis. Always had A+ service. If I still lived in the valley, he'd still be my first choice in gun shops.

I've been buying guns from Wes, Joanne, Bill and the gang for 13+ years at this point. (Hi, guys!) Back when they were in the old shop (Wes' house), even. I'd be ashamed to admit how many guns I've bought from them over the years, and I keep going back. Truly the way a gun shop "used to be", as opposed to the slick megamart approach you see way too much of these days. Usually a good selection of used guns, too.

This is my second posting in this thread. Well.....I lucked out and found them open and so I braked hard, parked badly and stopped in. They were a bit crowded so I had the opportunity to check out the inventory and most of the accessories. And I was able to see how they deal and interact with their customers.......my only reason for going in to start with.

One of the guys acknowledges me right away...good sign #1. Not just yet, thanks.

Three people working there....about 6-7 customers. . I wander a bit more, and look and listen as closely as I can to the various interchanges between customers and the staff. Two different gun sales in progress. Professional demeanor and civil treatment of customers. No talking down to customers or know-it-all blow-harding when answering questions. Good sign #2.

I see an interesting item or two in the used pistol cabinet, including a Savage 1917 double stack .380 sans blueing that seems priced right for its age.

And I have the necessary cash and then some now burning a hole in my butt. My wife is "not" patiently waiting in the car, we've come a hundred miles still have another 75 to drive.... and I don't want to do that with her ragging on me.... so I muster up some self-discipline and re-focus on the mission. The Savage had probably seen better days anyway.

So it thins out a bit, I ask for a box of ammo, instead of the Savage, and find that it is priced competitively. A little friendly chit-chat at the register, I pay and I leave with a fair-chase first impression.

Reminds me of the what many gun shops used to be.......... and what any shop today still could be.

Just bought a sweet Winchester Model 12 Featherweight from them. Once again they provide an enjoyable gun buying experience. I can not say enough about them. It has gotten to the point that when I am looking for a new Firearm, I don't even bother going anyplace else anymore, and its a 100 mile round trip for me. If you haven't checked them out yet, you should do so. They are good people.
