Can we make it a rule that if you post a video source as a thread subject you must make some attempt to caption what that subject is?

Just a pet peeve of mine to have to watch some long winded video just to figure out what the full subject or opinion is. During the business day its not practical to expect people to stare at their phones for 30 minutes watching youtube. Regardless of the day its not always practical to stop and watch a long video just to chat in a forum.

Rant over, Im sure several will wish they had a roll eyes emoji in response to my query... :p

You watch those random videos?

I don't even waste my time.

Especially if it's posted by certain members who just throw up some click bait titles and some stupid fear mongering YouTube video. Lol.

I just walk on by.

Sometimes the subject is valid and interesting.

Note: my post here is not directed at any particular post or person, but its just something thats common here. I call them "drive by" postings where someone starts a thread and all they post is a link to an article or video.

If they don't have the time to articulate their "message" then I'm not giving them any of my time by reading/watching it.

I know of another forum that actually has this rule, they lock threads that have no context. The flip side to that is whats the minimum one has to say but at least it forces people to say... something.

Nothing wrong with ignoring.

I'd be good with a rule like that. It would filter out a lot of the stupid threads that get posted without any thought or effort.

My favorite is when a member posts and is never to be seen in that thread again. And then a day later they start another thread without any follow up interaction.

Thats another pet peeve. Sometimes I think its an anti-gunner trolling the forum and they sit back and laugh as we add page after page trying to answer their post... lol.

Sometimes I agree. But I think those are the legal "question" threads. The thing about our community is we are really quick to police our own and call out sh!t that is wrong. Even when it comes to legal things that we don't agree with.

I do believe some people come here to bait us and they are very surprised when they don't get the response they were hoping for.

They only THINK they're master baiters, when if fact they're just masterbaiters.
