Are there any books or other publications you've found particular helpful with off-grid preparedness? It can be anything: abodes/structures, energy, water, sewage, gardening/farming, defense/security, et al., as long as you've found it helpful.

Got any good reads to recommend? Thanks!

Back when I thought about such things, I accumulated a fairly sizable library of DYI pubs at low cost from Hamiltonbook.com, an on line discount book seller. In full disclosure, these are just samples of current offerings, and I haven't read them, but the site is worth browsing if you are interested in building a low cost library of such things. :s0155:

The Foxfire books series from the 1970's onward are a good read.

Horace Kephart and his Camping and Woodcraft ...is also a damn good read.

Camp & Trail ..The Mountains ...The Forest...By Stewart Edward White are well worth looking up and reading.

I just spent 6 nights off grid. It was just me against the tree branches. Lots and lots of tree branches lost. Actual experience has been the best resource for me.

I decided not to tangle with this big boy. The tree was dead anyways.
