A few that come to mind:


Ruger XGI. Basically a Mini-14 in .308 and .243. Plagued by accuracy problems, it was never produced in quantity. A few prototypes were auctioned off.


Vantage Arms Six12. Six-shot, detachable cylinder-fed, suppressed 12-gauge. Super neat, but never came about.


HMG StG-44 repo. Cool idea, but Vaporville

I've also read there was an outfit allegedly going to make Merwin & Hulbert repos that never happened. Some got their deposit back, others didn't.

One standout for me was the Microtech MCS - an AUG clone convertible to different pistol calibers and that takes Glock mags. They teased it for years with prototypes and pics, then the firearms manufacturing arm of the company closed down.

IIRC one of the 3d printing collectives has a glock frame set-up for that (or was working on one.)

Not exactly total vapor, as you can still order conversion kits.... but the 460 Rowland, complete production guns... vaporized. I actually know someone who purchased what we suspect was the very last production 460 Rowland 1911, it was a total warranty disaster and the company had to refund him entirely.
IMO that round though, in a semi platform has so much big bore potential.

I got lucky when they first released, the 11" version popped up on KentuckyGunCO for $3100. Snagged it immediately. Absolutely awesome gun and is now my favorite AR of all the collection. The 11" with SilencerCo Velos is just a thing of beauty. The ability to dial in your gas, fully ambi, lifetime barrel warranty, and the history of the gun that killed Bin Laden, whats there not to love? ;-)

You should just be a dummy and buy it . . . ;-)
