Just for the fun: what are you all time favorite classic, rather than necessarily contemporary, Smith & Wesson revolvers? It can be ones you currently own, did in the past, or are on the lookout for now. And since "classic" is completely subjective, no real hard'n'fast rules. Just S&W goodness.

Enjoy. :)

The 686 is the perfect revolver. Maybe the 586 if you prefer blued steel to stainless. Don't know if those are classic models or not... They sure are my favorite

My hands down favorite is the Model 28 with a 4 inch barrel.
Had a pre-28 from 1955 at one time...but times were hard and i needed a house payment.
Would love another one...some day.

In the meantime...a very close second is my Model 19-3
Again with a 4 inch barrel.

Man- that's a hard one!
Fixed sights- my 21-4 and 22-4. 45 auto rim and 44 special. They go into rotation for deer hunting each year.

Plinker- I would guess it's a 17 or so. 6", old (don't have it handy) and shoots insanely accurate.

Adjustable sights- I had a 29-2 and it was great. Until full-power loads were introduced- locked up. As much trouble as I had with a 41 mag, I finally hit the jackpot. Found a 57-yes, no dash in 4" variety that is an outstanding shooter and not too hard to look at with the nickel finish. Coupled with a vintage lyman mold, it is as accurate if not more so than I am. The shop I bought it from on the east coast thought it had been media blasted, but it turned out to just be powder residue that came out with some time and Flitz.

Even a blind chicken gets a kernal of corn occasionally.

I like the 686, but have to admit it's a bit of a tank. The 686+ is better, due to the fact that it's packing that one more round while you're packing that tank. I would like to have one, but I couldn't find one and settled on a 686.
One I'd like back was the 65 I had ages ago.
In it's place is a Model 10-10. It's a sweet shooter.

In .357 my favorite is the SW 686. Snubby for edc. If I weren't into .44mag I'd have a second .686 in 6" for concealed woods carry.

In .44 mag, 6.5" SW 629 Classic for (concealed) woods carry. And for handgun hunting deer if my eyes were up to it without a scope, which, alas, they no longer are.

Scoped for hunting: Ruger Super Redhawk 9.5" Easier to scope than 629s, and can handle .44 mag+P, which SW guns cannot.

Make my 686s and 629s pre-lock

My favorite 357 is my 60-15 3". I loooove that gun.

That's an easy one. The 629 Classic. Geez, it's right there in the name. How much more CLASSIC can you get? :p

(I do confess to having a bit of a crush on my 686 plus as well.)

If this "new to me" 329PD is all I believe it is, my 686 just may be for sale.
But I don't consider the 329PD to be "classic", so I didn't comment on it.

I haven't owned may Smiths, having discovered Rugers early on. So what I have to chose from is a old hand ejector in 32-20, a model 60 in 38 special and I recently traded off a 629. I do covet a Model 57 in 41 Mag but the timing isn't right for that yet. So I'll vote for me favorite being the not yet acquired 41 Mag.

I like guns that can shoot so for me it's a late 50's 1955 target, a 4" 624 and a no dash model 18, all S&W of course. I have a couple pythons, l like the way they look and point but they aren't anything special when it comes to how they shoot.

Theres something about the M1917 that scratches an itch for me. My Grandfather had one and I always enjoyed shooting it, its size and weight made for a pleasant shooter even with stout 45. The half moon clips are fun to use. The history behind them and it being Indiana Jones revolver helps the reputation I guess too.

I'm a big K-frame fan (pre-lock, pre-MIM of course).

Usually I can't decide between the Model 15 and the Model 19 as to which is my favorite. 2.5" or 4" barrels rule.

I'm done with J-frames (only five rounds and not much fun to shoot, I prefer my Colts for little revolvers) except for my beloved model 63, it's perfect.
