I have a SIG P229 kit that I just don't have time to build. I pent $275.00 on the discontinued 80% frame, $250,00 on a complete slide(barrel is .40S&W), and almost $75.00 on all the small parts. I am asking an even $500.00. I am taking a $100.00 hit and new P229 are $700.00 or better. No transfer. Meet up in the Tacoma area or shipped to your door. Is that a Matrix frame? Is it a true P229 (takes P229 grips and mags), or the hybrid P226/9 frame that takes P229 locking block/barrel/slide, but P226 grips and magazines?

Great price for a great kit - I just built a Matrix P229 not long ago and am getting ready to do a P220 here soon.

Yes I believe it is a Matrix but this specific model has been discontinued. Yes it is a true P229 frame but Matrix had in their add that it could be converted to P226.

I am not sure how to delete my messages. Yes it it still for sale. Contact me at [email protected]. Sorry for the hassle.

Go to your conversations/private messages, check ones you want to get rid of, and at the bottom of the page hit the "Choose Action" list and pick "Leave conversations..." and then hit "GO"
Coversations.jpg

It will pop up with a confirmation where you can choose to allow the other person to still send you messages in that conversation (which would then bring it back) or not.

As for this package - hoping Mark picks it up. Having built one of these already, they are a great way to learn the inner workings of these particular pistols! If it was a true P226 frame, I'd have grabbed it in a second, but I really need to get my P220 one built first. GLWS!

That's just it! When I mark a message nothing pops up that says "choose actions". I have sent Joe a message waiting for a reply. The only tabs that show are the 100% tab and the selective tab at the top of the list. Nothing pops up at the bottom of the list.

strange...hopefully Joe or staff can help out on that one. In my conversation list (using Chrome on desktop), I check the boxes next to each message:

and once I've checked one of those, the "footer" bar pops up at the bottom of the browser to choose what "action" to do:

OR, if I close that footer, I can click the "Selected" button next to the % bar at the top and it will pop up that footer.

wonder if it's a pop up blocker or something that won't make it work? Hopefully staff can help you out on that - hate to have muddied up the for sale ad with troubleshooting!

OK - back to questions about the ad...

Is the magazine you've got a factory Sig P229 magazine, or is it a factory Sig P226 magazine, or an aftermarket. I'm trying to determine if the magwell is the older (thinner) P228/229 width, or the newer "universal" P229-1/E2 width. Since it's a .40 magazine, but you said it's an older Matrix frame, that's where the question comes from.

It is a factory 226 mag in 9mm, I just discovered. This might help. IMG_20200923_175322346.jpg IMG_20200923_175853563.jpg IMG_20200923_175233300.jpg IMG_20200923_175301742.jpg IMG_20200923_175310699.jpg

OK - one more. Do the grips have any markings inside of them indicating model? If you put the grip on the frame, and put the magazine in it (lining up the magazine release with the slot in the magazine), does the magazine sit flush to the grip, or extent below it about 3/16" or so? Maybe toss up a picture with the grips and magazine "dry-fit" on the frame?

Matrix has made a variety of different grip frames over the years:
  • P229 with the original P228/P229 frame dimensions (use the older/narrower P229 9mm magazines, or could be run with a P226 magazines using an X-Grip adapter to fill the gap from the P229 grip to the P226 magazine if used for 40/357 or to get the extra capacity of the P226 9mm)
  • P229 "hybrid" that actually takes P226 magazines and grips, but all other frame dimensions match the P229 (this has been the only frame offered for most of the past several years until he just recently started making "true" P229 frames again)
  • P229 "E2" frame that uses the newer P229-1 9mm magazines and also can directly accommodate factory P229 40/357 magazines
  • P228 (actually just the P229 without rail, and offered with the older P228/narrow magazine width or the newer E2 magazine width)
  • P226 (true to the dimensions of a P226)
I'm just trying to narrow down compatibility with the magazines/parts I already have. The P226 and older P229 9mm magazines will fit in newer E2 frames (with a little slop - the difference is about 0.05" in width at the base), but things won't work the other way.

And yes, as far as I know, you can build any of the P229 frames to work with P226 upper - there is a slight difference in location of the locking block and so you'd have to use the P226 drill jig (or dimensions) and then be sure to use a P226 locking block and slide/barrel/RSA.

Thanks for your patience and help...

What is your e-mail address? I have something else to show you.

Thank you good sir - those are P229 grips for sure, so that frame has the P229 grip dimensions. If that magazine is a nice snug (but not tight) fit, then I'd say you've got the P228/P229 magazine well. If it's got some side to side play (about 1/16"), then you've got the newer E2 magwell.

Yeah there is a little play and the mag wiggles slightly.
