i have a Wally cooper set I got on eBay. External wrench. Worked for my tikkas.

Sitting around now. I'm in Portland. Will ship it to ya if you just cover shipping cost and send it back in a month or so when you're done.

That's very generous of you. I really appreciate that. I still need to select my new barrel. Going with a prefit.

What method did you use to torque your new barrel back on. Did you use an internal wrench?

Also since I'm still in the barrel selection market I'd like to hear what you got or have experience with. I'm building a light hunting rig in 6mm creedmore so short and light as possible without sacrificing too much velocity is the plan.

I went the budget friendly route :)

I bought a factory takeoff on eBay for $100ish for my 7mm rem mag - it came with 5/8-24 threads. My original barrel was not threaded. Considered going to 7 prc but when I honestly looked at my use case I couldn't justify the cost since I was already set up in 7rm.

Another I had the 308 factory Lite barrel cut and threaded at 16" for suppressed brush hunting. Love the manuverability at 16". Found velocity loss was pretty close to 25 fps per inch. That was in the $150ish range but cheaper than new barrel. In the meantime I put another 308 ctr barrel on but that barrel is too heavy for my taste so currently for sale ;)

I used a factory round with tape to check head space. Found the idea on another forum. Changing barrels I saw no difference in shoulder dimension of my brass. The shoulders are cut precise enough I didn't feel like there was much to worry about.

i used the external wrench for install as well. The barrel is so hard to get off it feels kinda silly to me to think you need some precise torque on the install. Plus one less thing to buy. Haven't had any issues yet with a reinstall to 1-2 ugga-duggas of torque.

Did use a breaker bar to get barrel tightly in vice. One slipped and got marred pretty bad. Rosin might have been a good idea.

To me, a few scratches and blemishes are worth the satisfaction of knowing I did it myself. It's not rocket science. You can certainly work yourself into a tizzy with info online.

Happy to chat more. Reach out if/when ya need the items and I can walk you through it a bit more detailed. I'm not much help on 6 creed. Sounds sexy but most my shooting is paper at 100 from a bench while i dream about being on an exotic hunt.

I'm ordering my barrel today. It won't be delivered for 2-3 months. If you don't mind I'll reach out to you then to borrow the tools. If you prefer we can exchange numbers or I can just message you here.
