A friend just gave me this rifle. Winchester 30-30, model 94. No scratches, rust, or dings - looks like it hasn't been fired much.

I'm planning to keep it on the farm, maybe shoot some deer. From the serial number, I found out it was made in 1975.

I think it's probably worth between $400 and $500, based on the ads I'm seeing.

It's a good day.

As Tom Peterson used to say,"Free is a very good price!"
I've yet to own a post-64,but I'm sure they are just as good, and a great and handy rifle for around the farm.Enjoy!!

I have one Winny 30 30 circa 1983 with peep sights and Rem 170 gr RN ammo puts out 3" groups at 100 years.

Closest I can come to that is either a 91 year old Model 1894 in 30-30 Carbine or a 111 year old Model 1895 in 30-40 Krag 28" barrel deluxe rifle. But both do better then 3" groups at 100 yards.

The best shooting is the 1968 Buffalo Bill Commemorative Rifle (26") 30-30 with my fancy tip up front sight and the Williams Target Peep on the back. Better then 1.5" at 100yard from a rest.
