The last update of the website included a more obvious ask for an intro letter, badges, etc. So even many who had been around many years were suddenly getting solicited for an intro letter.

This. I almost succumed to the prompting too, but was lazy enough to resist. Then some time after the latest site upgrade I was browsing the new account settings and found the "turn off new member nag box" (or whatever it's called) button.

"Rebel mode" restored! :s0155:

I can confirm though that you don't need to complete all of the new member "tasks" in order to participate in the classifieds.

I just get tired of the new posts pages filled with 30+ new intro posts…

I assume people are padding their post count - ain't nobody that friendly.
