Been on here a long time. Never have I been as many issues as I do now a days. And most of these people are 2024-now members, that I noticed. I personally don't reach out to someone unless I'm serious. And I've only back out of one purchase. I was planning on meeting the gentleman on my lunch break, however that morning I was laid off. Before I even called my wife, I texted him to let him know and provided an evidence of no longer having a job, and that it would be a poor decision for me to purchase the item. I also believe I was late once but I kept in communication and I was going off GPS and there was a traffic incident that caused me to run 30mins over the GPS original estimate. I personally feel that in the last few years the classified here are as bad as FB market and all the jokes that come with that.

But as of late there have been
—Users inability to read ads (offering trades, when clearly stating no trades, low ball when ask not to, having you repeat what is in the ad, etc)
—poor communication and not responding back
—backing out even tho they said they'd buy
—overall people not being serious about buying/selling/trading

Anyways, I know if you drive a million miles and dude doesn't show up. That is a valid reason

But I'd like to hear from everyone what they feel is acceptable to give negative feedback.

Is it when they just stop talking to you?

Failure to finalize meet up?

Backing out of deal?

Just curious to what yall think about the current state of the classified and the proper use of the trader rating. Part of this is curiosity and part of it is just my frustration

There is nothing new about potential buyers being flakes, regardless of what media an item is placed within: here, Facebook, Craigslist, Classified ads in Newspaper, Nickel ads....etc.

Again nothing new about this behavior, you are dealing with people. People really haven't changed, there's just more of them.

I'd answer NO, to the above questions.

No call, no show will receive a negative.

I guess I'll consider myself fortunate, I've yet to experience a No call, No show from any member here. Elsewhere, that's a different story.

Such is life, I don't understand why so many people get their feathers ruffled over selling items privately when things don't work out.

I had a write up, but Dude "Colt Carbine' ^^^ was quicker! :D
Crap does happens at times. I DO think that people don't take their word as seriously now as passed generations of people do/did. Hell, a lot of the Millennials and Gen-Zer's must have missed learning basic courtesy! If there's no major hold up for me there wouldn't be a negative, but I'm thinking maybe there ought to be a few more "Neutral" feedbacks given when you end up having a hard time getting a return call. Too many people live on their damned phones these days, so lack of communication shouldn't necessarily get a free pass in feedback department all the time.

The wishy-washy back and forths and lack of reading comprehension I kind of expect, not worth any feedback....now, comlpletely flaking after an agreement is made, yes, that would warrant feedback.
That said, I've been extremely lucky here and can't think of any bad experiences with members.

OP , I've bought from you once or twice. You strike me as a level headed, fair, and honest man. If you think negative feedback has been earned then hand it out. That being said, I really wouldn't expect the overall tone of private party exchanges to improve. Just my 2 cents .

yes the frequency has gone up.

But this is more about. I'd like to keep this less about people's frustrations and more educational.

And when may someone deem it appropriate to give negative feedback

Such as no call no show

Just consider.

When you give negative feedback you're gonna get negative feedback.
When you have a huge mess of good reviews one bad review is going to look like a crackpot that had his widdow feewings hurt that you wouldn't jump through hoops for them. Or somthing.

Feedback is tough. I've done deals with people who had negative feedback and things went great. On the flip side I've done deals with people who have a 100 percent positive feedback and the meet was less than ideal.

Personally I don't leave feedback unless it's positive. No feedback is my form of negative feedback.

Negative feedback just turns into a petty argument about I'm right and you're wrong in the feedback comment section (comical to read though). Stories and excuses about this or that. Name calling and finger pointing. And I try to avoid having negative feedback in my own section. And I know it will come even if unjustified simply because I left them bad feedback.

Just my opinion.

Not to say there aren't plenty respectful young folks around, Also not to say that the older generations didn't have their share, but I find it less prevalent.
In the modern world, I see hand shake agreements, and courtesy from the so called modern male antediluvian.

(along with that word)

Hand shake agreements - hell, a solid handshake and eye contact is hard to find nowadays.

Ok Noah. Lol

Totally unrelated. I was laughing to myself while typing " ..my 2 cents "
When my grandkids are my age, will they even remember what pennies were?

Agreed

Even though the negative reviews are suppose to make us be more cautious of purchasing from said person. I've seen on other forums of characters with 10 negative reviews and they've only been here for 3 months. I tend to steer away

I'd honestly be impressed with someone stacking up that many reds .
Who are the people giving the repeat offender chances after seeing the bad color?

It was on a now defunct car forum I was on

The guy joined waited 2 months. Then blasted a bunch of ads for parts he didn't even have. Saying something about his wife died and he lost his job and was liquidating to move back to the east coast with his kids to his parents. And people PayPal'd him the money and he then sent the money to a second account linked to his real bank. After people got wind, and before a scam report could be submitted and processed, he closed his PayPal account. From what I read on the forum, he was just some 19year old kid, I don't remember how they ended up catching him.

One of the reasons PayPal has gotten more strict in the last few decades
