Two things will get your attention when you get the B&T VP9 on the range. We've already covered one — it's damned quiet. The quietest 9mm pistol we've ever shot. It's at least as quiet as a suppressed 22LR, perhaps quieter. It's so quiet that we were inspired to make a list of things louder than the VP9.

•Opening a bag of chips
•Slapping a challenge coin on the bar
•Dropping the bolt on an AR
•Grasshoppers
•Dropping a brick on a grasshopper
•A conversation between Chris Tucker and Roseanne Barr in a library
•Losing an NFA item in a boating accident
•A dog aggressively licking his balls
•Cries of help from Jeffrey Epstein's cell

The original welrod had a dB rating in the mid 70 dB's although that was a pile of horse hockey. That was using a measurement standard of 5 meters from the shooter with now antiquated low rise instruments. Modern measurement standards are 1 meter away with fast reaction meters. The actual numbers with a restored 32 ACP Welrod are well into the mid 120 dB's. Not that quiet. Even the B&T 9mm version is 130 dB which is quite a bit louder than opening a bag of potato chips. Not that quiet at all. LOTs of better performing suppressors out there. For comparison the best 22 silencers are 115 ish dB's on a rifle and low 120 dB's on a pistol. Even a 9mm Osprey on a fully functional 9mm pistol is 127 dB.
