Well, I just graduated from .22 to .45, and discovered that my range requires non-jacketed bullets on the 50 foot range (there is a 21 foot trap for FMJ). So it is wadcutter or semi-wadcutter only for 50 foot.....

Where can I get some? Anyone know where to look? Who normally carries it in normal times, and where might I find some now?

Any reloaders want to sell some?

I'm a newbie on this one.....

Thanks!

Non jacketed usually means lead type bullets. Round nose lead, std ball -military type , would work, as well as target loads like truncated cone, or semi-wad cutters. Plain wad cutters in 45 acp, might be a bit of a problem for feeding..in to a semi-auto 45.

Good luck on this one, I have reloaded Lead ammo available

Thanks for all of your help, guys!

Last question - of these, what bullet type would be the most accurate and consistent for competitive target use?

Everybody has their favorite. Here's some common target loads:

4.0gr titegroup 200gr Lead with COL at 1.250"
5.3gr Win 231 200gr Lead
3.5gr Bullseye 180/200gr Lead (Very light load, might not cycle properly)
4.0gr Bullseye 200gr Lead

Here's a couple of my favorites:

5.0gr Red Dot 200gr Plated 1.234"
4.6gr Green Dot 230gr FMJ 1.234"

+1 on all being said here, I shoot the 200gr semi wadcutters with 5.0gr of win 231 works great would use round nose too just run a brush down the tube every two mags or so and no problems, will be trying A no.2 powder next.
