I could have gone a long time not hearing about that. It saddens me that we can't celebrate anything without there being a shooting. Seems to me they ought to make an example out of these shooters. Pretty much anything done in public can turn deadly. It should not be like this.

Damn right. The perp needs to get the maximum sentence for an adult.

I got a call yesterday at 7:45 from my 22 year old kid, somewhat out of breath, saying he is OK. I'm thinking... what's next?? Ok why??? He quickly explained that he didn't want me finding out about the shooting and worrying since I knew he was going to be at the mall. Of course he waited to call after he and his friends got to the parking lot and were in the car. Apparently they were quite close when the shots were fired. My understanding is the only reason they were not in sight of the shooter was because they were heading down the stairs. They saw other people running and wisely did the same.
Obviously we don't yet know the details yet, but it would be nice if reasonable people on both sides of the isle could sit down and come up with something that reduces incidents like this that doesn't take away our basic rights or freedoms.

They need to release video and photos of the shooter immediately. This bullbubblegum about "it's an active investigation so we can't provide any details" is complete BULL. Everyone seeing the video and photos is much more likely to result in apprehension of the criminal then police and mall security trying to identify him is secret. It's just stupid on their part.

Sounds like gang cover-up.

If they solve the problem, they won't be able to use it in the next election campaign.

I agree but from what I can find it more sounds like a cop out for not having any information. The only details of the shooter that were released was he was in all black with a clown mask

It would be VERY simple to put a damper on this kind of crap. NOT let the scum walk as fast as they catch them. These kind of things almost NEVER turn out to be someone that has not already had run ins with law.

I'm thinking maybe the victim was, seeing as they haven't released any info on the one that was killed
Maybe, but also vancouver likes to ignor/cover up the gang issues here. You almost never hear about it but bubblegum happens all the time. I got caught up in a club shooting some years ago and there was 0 reporting on it

We did that decades upon decades and decades ago. It's called the criminal justice system and it's a great deterrent against crime... but... it's worthless when "some" refuse to use it, decriminalize crime, do no bail catch and release, refuse to even prosecute more and more types of crime and constantly encourage criminal activity.

If there are no real consequences, why "not" lash and act out in the most egregious ways possible? The bigger the crime the bigger the rush and the more clicks.
