Please don't get in a p!ssing match with @tac . He doesn't make the laws, but he has to abide by them, just as we do here. He is just as patriotic to his homeland as many of us are with ours. He is also a veteran of his nation's military service, which is a very good one, and as such has earned respect.

Living in a restrictive / repressive state ....
Sucks....to put it mildly.
I have never been in favor of...or supportive of firearm restrictions.

I didn't vote for those anti-firearm laws...nor do I vote for those who sponsor / support such things.
I also write to my so called elected representative and express my opposition to restrictive firearm laws .
This usually is met with either no reply...or a "canned" reply.
Signing petitions to repeal laws , bans and the like , I also have done.

The above is posted , just as a reminder that not all who live in a firearm restrictive area....
Are the problems or support such restrictions.

A couple of other things to consider ....
Blanket statements....do not cover as much as one may wish.
Reading into or assuming something from what someone posts is never a good idea.

We compare our 2A against other countries but given the age of the majority of those countries and the fact many turned in or handed over those Right in the WW2 era, they righteously don't care about gun ownership.

Up until the 201X (teens) Germans were German. Dutch were Dutch. Crime and violence were generally low. Paris excluded.

Given that most of America was pretty safe until 2000(?), unless you were in a handful of specific cities. Well, the Pasadena bank robbery and the 92 LA riots did shake a few things up. We shouldn't make direct comparisons. Possibly to Canada but they are heavily influenced by Europe.
 
The difference are the UK, has been ruled for over 1000 years ago.
So they are bred to actually look at freedom different.
Talk with a person from Cananda or UK and they are, at once the UK allows guns.
Missing, they allow. So does Australia and Canada.
Its like here we are allowed to drive as the government dictates.

What most people in the UK are unaware, we have the freedom their King enjoys.
King Charles can do and say what he pleases. Go where he wants.
Buy what he wants and can own any gun, tank etc he might want.

They ignore in the UK, you are subjects, here we are the rulers all of us.
That is what a Republic is.
I used to think people in the UK, AU, CA were just ignorant.
No, they are not citizen that rule like us, they are citizens that " ARE " ruled.
To suppress firearms here quickly ( 10 years or less ) would cause massive death.
In Canada, they are ruled and therefore gave up. Australia same.

Here, people wont give up rights, for
WE THE PEOPLE. in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish.

Clear, we wrote the freedoms and we wrote the establishment of this country and its Republic.
UK and its people just do what they are told. HUGE Difference.

The three entries at the bottom are for a .577 Snider Short rifle, a .577 Pritchett Volunteer rifle and a .451cal Parker-Hale Whitworth rifle.

This is one-half of the firing point at the Queens/Kings Cup comp TR shoot - Stickledown 1200 yard range with 100 points - earlier this year. As you can clearly see, all those good folks there from all over the shooting world, including the USA, are just lazing in the sun, and not actually doing anything.

Unless you were being intentionally facile, let me interpret that quote for you:

The ability to own firearms in the UK has been continually and aggressively stripped away to the point that it is only for the privileged few. Additionally, even for those privileged few, they are severely limited in the types of firearms they can acquire as well as where they can actually use those firearms.

So yeah, the UK hasn't technically "lost" all of their guns, but I think deep down inside, you get the point @Ginocide was making 😊

I'm definitely not privileged in any way, just another old pensioner with a little collection of old guns. As for having the facility to drive your truck out to the middle of nowhere - and a LOT of the USA is like that - unlimber the ol' .50cal and let rip in any direction, well, that's the benefit of living in a VAST country. There are 68 million of us here in one little island, and shooting where you want is just not on the cards.

Yeah I could see land constraints necessitating specific shooting locations; that's a lot of people in not a lot of space comparatively!
 
This kind of thinking, where someone who disagrees with your point of view is "not American," along with sliding into conspiracy language about "globalists," does not help the gun community win friends and influence people. It puts us in a corner and makes us look like troglodytes.

You want to win friendship and influence people who are dead set on repealing the 2nd amendment and confiscating ALL guns? Because that is their goal.

When I hear someone on the vast majority of topics respond, that's a conspiracy, for me it indicates that person lacks enough information on the topic to respond with facts or simply can't acknowledge they don't know.
