I still call Yzf128r recommendation the best I have found in teaching my nephew. I have the SR22 and my nephew can shoot it all day after starting with one at a time and after a few months he is getting more accurate with it than I am and my cousin has the Ruger 22/45 lite which my nephew likes but not nearly as much as the SR. My nephew is a little monster though as he is young but started playing football and lifting weights at 8 years old just due to enjoying doing it with me and asking if he could use the weights. So I cannot say other kids in the same age range would be capable of racking a slide or handling recoil as well as him but like I said in his hands the 2 guns are perfect starting pistols. The 10/22 was the first thing he ever shot and he can knock down shotgun shells on a shelf further out than I can and more consistently.
