Transport firearm to airport

What are my options? I live pretty close to the airport (seatac), and i ysually take the bus to fly out since a lot less stress than park and fly. I believe it is illegal to transport any firearm in transit bus, correct?

So if i have to drive to park and fly, am i still legal to take the rifle in the case with me on the parking lot shuttle to the airline check-in?
