How many people read this story in American Rifleman a few issues back? If you're a member then you got a copy. What a great story and a great argument to add to the list against disarming the US population. Say what you want about nuclear deterrents, the fact that Americans are armed is the greatest deterrent there is to a foreign power putting boots on the ground on our soil.

In WW2 the Japanese considered invading the continental US. I believe it was Yamamoto that advised against it, saying there will be rifle behind every tree and rock aimed at our soldiers.

The quote goes something like this

"It would be folly to invade the mainland USA. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass"

Makes you wonder about the conspiratorial gun banners.. are they really this stupid?

This reminds me of another quote by Santayana

"Those who refuse to learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat them"
