I apologize for my ignorance of forums. I enjoyed them in the last century, but they have changed so much they don't seem familiar. I developed an aversion to computers from over exposure on the job. Once retired I found myself avoiding my computer for almost a decade except for essentials. I don't know of trolls and scammers and such. I am saddened that things have changed necessitating the safe guards that frustrate me. I did not know about the need for a certain number of posts, or even what constitutes a post. Is this a post?

Yep, you can have security or you can have convenience. You can rarely have both at the same time. Even the current security on this site is a compromise, and there are still scams that show up in the classifieds.

If you are not aware of scammers and security protocols it would behoove you to get up to speed on that before venturing online. The Internet can be quite hostile to the unaware.

I do cyber security for a living. If you let me know how you prefer to consume media/information I would be happy to drop some appropriate links for you to review. There are good videos, podcasts and articles that cover the basics. A lack of awareness is what the scammers prey on, and they are very sophisticated now. This exponentially increases your chances of being caught. Education is the only inoculation.

Enjoy ... learn. You're never too old to learn. Hey, I'm scraping at my 7th decade on this blue dot in space, I'm retired, still use a computer effectively and efficiently (a MacBook .... oooh ahhh ... I'm so LEET), can still tie my own shoelaces and wipe my own butt, and am STILL learning new stuff. Go figure ....

First off welcome, and congrats, you have already ticked off 3 of the 10 required posts just complaining about having to make 10 posts and how difficult it is. 7 more to go. just look at the bottom of the screen and see how many members and more importantly how many visits per day, and all of those managed the same start up procedure. if your interest is strictly air guns, look at that forum and realize you are getting access to that many more like minded air gunners. Who knew there were so many. and one last thing, without those simple steps this forum would be flooded with scammers trying to sell you guns and parts they don't have... along with beef jerky, Fla real estate etc...
So take a few min and post up on some things you have experience with, things that make you happy or just congratulate others on a good target, new gun etc... and those next 7 posts will be up in a few min. Good luck DR
