When you split a 6.5 case or trash the mouth in an auto loader (M42B)
Don't toss the brass. Cut it down and use it in the .45.

Ah. .308, 25-06, 270, 30-06, 7mm & 8mm Mauser and many more can all be made to work. Takes a trimmer and inside case reamer. That's how the .44 AMP came to be.

What I want is a hollow-pointer, but they are surprisingly costly. Blew my chance when they were $20 in the 70s.

I've used modified 6.5 brass in a few high pressure .45 applications where I wouldn't have trusted the .45 brass.
For instance, "deep throat" for blunt objects and elevated pressure where the case isn't completely supported.

If that isn't a straight line I don't know what is...

...upside down hollow base wad cutters trimmed to a little under 350gr.
I'm not comfortable posting the load data.
Once I blew the bottom out of .45 brass just once I switched.
I had an M42B ljungman so I had a fair quantity of damaged brass.
It did take cut off, ream, press onto mandrel, turn then fire form with a 185gr Keith and about 2.8 of Red Dot.
I went from blowing the bottom out of .45 brass to "only" slightly bulging the converted brass.
