I used to be a park ranger for the US Army Corps of Engineers and patrolled 130 miles of the Snake river. I spent a fair amount of time BSing with the sturgeon fishermen below Lower Granite dam. Biggest I saw reeled in was a 9'. Truly amazing.

They used railroad spikes as weights and whole trout as bait.
