I'm considering picking one up myself, can't choose between the shorty 5" version or the full size 8"
I'm definitely going 5inch I want the most concealable setup. That 3 inches ballistically isn't enough to convince me that bigger is better. Most handguns are configured around 5 inch barrel or smaller so it makes sense. If it was 10mm then maybe get the bigger of the two. But for standard 9mm 5 inches is just fine. They don't seem to popular in LGS around here not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

Got my shorty just before the ban came down. Finally got around to getting light and can. Soft shooter, It is extremely fun to shoot! I will say, that if the goal was not to fit into normal backpack with can on, the 8" barrel version would be the way to go. Had to get a bit creative for mounting light, and sling (required a remote switch), and I needed an angled foregrip to keep my palm away from the ejection port (I'm left handed). Fun guns.

Damn you you had to remind me! Great price with the code. If I didn't already have mp5k clone and regular size Stribog I would buy it. I did buy the 22 version the other day and it's a hoot suppressed. Mcarbo trigger springs brought trigger to 1 lb 15 oz average pull. One of these days I'll see if my binary ar-15 trigger works in it. It should.

Never bothered to shoot 9mm Stribog (sbr) suppressed. I should do that. Grip pod is just for larpage.

Comparison between the two? I'd ideally buy both, but with the 114 appeal coming up soon I'm looking to settle on 1 pcc and invest in the ecosystem. No mags or anything for either, also looking at the scorpion. Any input is appreciated!

I have never shot Stribog roller delay version. But comparing 9mm A1 version vs mp5 clones IMO if you want the smoothest shooting gun go for mp5 full size (mke clone is $1100ish and is identical to hk, licensed by HK and made on hk tooling). Mp5k version has more recoil. Neither is as accurate shooting fast as the Stribog due to the trigger.

From videos I've seen Stribog roller delayed mini is just a bit less recoil than Stribog full size A1 (some videos compare the 2 directly).

Reliability of Stribog A1 (non reciprocating dual rod version), mke mp5, mke mp5k are identical. Never a malfunction with any of them.

Recoil of mp5 is as sweet and smooth as it gets. Recoil of mp5k is smooth also but not as smooth as full size. Recoil of Stribog A1 is considerably more than either mp5 (as expected). I put an hb industries fan compensator on it and that helps a lot. If I were to rate recoil I would say mp5 is 10/10, mp5k 8/10, Stribog A1 6/10, extar 2/10.

Accuracy of Stribog with cheapo red dot is uncanny. I remember shooting steel and I was all done shooting for the day and then I saw a steel target way off to the left I had ignored cuz it was so hard to see. I just randomly raised the gun and fired off 2 shots as fast as I could without even trying much. 1 inch at 34 yards without even trying. And that is typical. It is remarkably accurate. Seems like you can't miss with it (with that optic anyway). Mp5 and mp5k are accurate but not like the Stribog.

I dont think you can go wrong with either one. I haven't shot Stribog in couple years probably due to mp5 is always my first choice to take to range followed by mp5k.

As far as ecosystem stay away from "original HK" and B&t stuff due to cost and mp5 is awesome. Stuff is inexpensive. Red dot mount $10, front handguard $18-$25, braces/stocks same as any other gun. My custom made wood furniture total cost 2/3 of just the stock alone if it were hk or b&t. Stribog would be better for competitive shooting imo but for range fun mp5 is probably better (but remember I have never shot roller delayed Stribog).

  • Glock 17/22/34 etc + B&T USW chassis 11-12.5" with stock/brace folded. Up to 6" barrel. Calibers 9/.40/.357 sig or .45/10mm for large frame Glock.
  • Sig copperhead - 11.8", 3.5" barrel
  • B&T TP9 - 11.9", 5.1" barrel
  • S&w 686 revolver (for reference) - 11.94", 6" barrel
  • Mini stribog - 12.5" 5" barrel
  • Colt SAA (for reference) 13.9", 7.5" barrel
  • Sig rattler 14" 5.56/300 BLK, 5.5" barrel
  • Micro evo - 14.6", 5.5" barrel
  • 15" - HK/MKE (century) mp5k clone (9mm) with stock/brace folded. 5.5" barrel
  • evo - 16", 7.7" barrel
  • 16.5" - Stribog 22lr/9mm/.45/10mm with stock/brace folded, 8" barrel

Accuracy and reliability are certainly my most important factors - although recoil is definitely a consideration for those long range days, and training new shooters (i.e my daughter in the future). Appreciate the write up, gives me some things to think about!
extar 2/10
I was curious about this little PCC too as I've seen it mentioned many places. I'll probably stick with the direction I'm heading already. 🤣

Do not buy extar is my advice. It's super reliable but recoil is violent (I imagine it's the same as any AR 9mm?). Holy smokes going from extar to Stribog is like going from a noisy and tippy canoe to a 16' ski boat. Going from extar to mp5 is like going to 40 foot power yacht.

Another one to consider if looking for small and fun, USW chassis on a Glock is great fun. Absolutely love shooting this thing with a suppressor. Non moving red dot and stock triples effective range and tightens up groups closer in considerably. USW is $355 but you also need a stamp.
With binary (not recommended for accuracy). It's really fun to shoot without binary. I just put binary on there for a test.

That's really interesting... out of the box my extar was a lot more gentle than my stribog. I've made the Stri better with the addition of the HBI short stroke buffer which brought it on par with the extar. Only other complaint is it's refusal to eat 147HST. I'm going to try a 40deg block on it and see if that works, but if not it's critical duty (which it was fine with).

Forgot to mention that mp5 ecosystem is pretty unique. 5.56 can be found and 7.62x39 and .308 are readily available. Here is size comparison of mp5 9mm and .308:
IMG_7256.jpeg
I got my 8.5" new for less than cost of Stribog a3 mini or mp5 clone (12.5" is much more expensive but has less recoil, more power, and less fireball):
Notice lack of recoil on 8.5" .308 due to roller locked system where you can choose angle of locking piece to lower the recoil (slow down the bolt). .308 in this size barrel is 1335 foot pounds of energy vs 9mm is 400 fpe so lack of recoil is surprising.
From internet binary
From internet full auto
This guy has tons of mp5 and similar videos. Short with no BS.
