Steyr Mannlicher Y1903 1912
Caliber is 6.5x54MS
$600 obo

As far as I can tell this is a Steyr 1903 made for the Greek military. It has been sporterized being restocked with a full length stock, new sights and new barrel installed. No markings on the barrel and the action serial number doesn't match the bolt.

This was my father's rifle that was built by a gunsmith in the 70's. He was going to have claw mounts added, but never had it done. I have recently fired this rifle and with open sites it grouped surprisingly well at 100 yards. Loud with not recoil to speak of and an amazingly smooth action.

Includes new unused, 5 boxes (100 rds) of Norma brass, a some factory ammo and the empty casings from when I took it out. As well as Lyman All American dies that cost $5.00 new back in the day at GI Joes!

Asking $600 and we will meet in Seaside, Or at Nehalem Valley Firearms for the transfer.

Beautiful wood! Normally this would fall within my aesthetics and wants but unfortunately (not for me) I just spent some cash on some other pew pew toys. A very good luck wish on your sale!

The Mannllicher-Schoenauer Model of 1900 was the first Mannlicher to incorporate Schoenauer's contribution to the partnership: The signature rotary magazine that operates like rugged and precise clockwork, nesting each cartridge in it's own polished steel cradle and delivering it flawlessly for pickup to the chamber.

It was so revolutionary that the invention won First Place at the Paris World's Fair as the best invention of the New Century.

No smoother action that has yet to be invented, and likely none ever will. Modern very expensive rifles (such as the Blaser) require intricate ball-bearing arrangements in order to operate even close. This rifle requires none, and it operates noticeably smoother.

The Model of 1903 was the first of the Mannlichers to be produced by that company in a civilian sporterized version, including the iconic "Mannlicher Carbine" of Ernest Hemingway's favor. However, British gunmakers such as the William Jeffery firm (.600 Nitro Express inventor) had been building custom sporting guns on Mannlicher actions since much earlier and the Mannlicher firm's hunting rifles took on many of the characteristics of the London guns.

This rifle was built to emulate those fine rifles (from England and Austria), and the conversion seems perfect with the woodwork of impeccable quality. If the builder and barrelmaker can be identified, that may add value to this fine hunting rifle. This rifle needs to hunt. Pleasure of carrying will equal the certain success it will deliver.
