Why not give us 523-12XXX ????? It would sure make it easy to figure out what model---since you don't seem to know, and also date it so we might know when it was built. If the box is correct to the gun either the model number or a photo of the end of the box would be real simple.

That's wise caution on your part Sir. We're not looking for the full serial number; we're looking for the first few digits to help us date the piece. You can insert XXX for the last three digits if you'd like.

For what it is worth, I have seen this Ruger. It is all original with the box and accessories numbered to the revolver. I have dealt with Johnny5 in the past. Everything is above board here.

So according to Ruger's website, it's a 1978 production gun.
