Ive been headed out to La Grande area for three years with my father in law for turkey, not bagged one yet. Been surrounded by them, beating, gobbling, just not in the right spot.

Isn't it always true that you'll see a big tom in every driveway you pass on the way to the hunting area?

Maybe I should just quit while I'm ahead and stick with ducks on the coast.

Went out yesterday....no grouse...but had fun.
Did see some...just didn't get a shot in.
Cleaned up some trash some @#*% left behind...ugh

Crowded where I was at..some hunters ( Bear season and Archery season for deer )
Lots of ATV/ Dirt bike riders...don't make for a good hunting area....
Not that they shouldn't be out there...just makes for a difficult hunt when they are.

Will be going out again...and again....:D

My son knows the feeling. Our last day of elk hunting with our bows over east, he saw eight grouse and got ZERO arrows off the string. He made a comment about wishing he had a shotgun. One of the worst years we have experienced for elk hunting, and the grouse still hanging around in the area were extremely nervous. Neither of us got a shot at anything, elk or grouse.

There were plenty of ATVs and hunters in our area as well. :(
