From M14 Forum: The 'DEA' is for deer, elk, and antelope. The idea is you start on 4 power and increase the magnification until the animals body/chest fills the area between the two lines and then you look at the power setting and get the distance. Say you turned it up to 8 power to get the deer to fill up the space, the D line at 8 power says 350 so that deer is 350 yards from you. $40.
