So it seems Sig has decided there was merit after all for a "high capacity" .45 auto now. They were working on one in the mid 90's that was dubbed the P221 - but that project died after the 94 AWB was passed. Looks like someone renewed it, and changed up the last digit. I am disappointed though, that they went with 10-round mags (sounds like semi-staggered stack mags, vs true double stack to me) and the E2 grip treatment over the prototype 221's 14-round flush fit mags and normally shaped grip.

The P220 doesn't exactly have a small grip, and a double stack Sig has to be absolutely huge, but this is a cool gun. For those with largish hands who like .45's - this should be an excellent addition to their stable.
