I have had an issue with my P220 cycling properly during use with a suppressor. I can only identify the issue as comparatively "bolt over base" where the slide returns to locked position faster than the magazine can feed the round into the chamber (I assume). The issue is stove piping live rounds, and occasionally a round will not seat properly in the extractor and only partially feed into the chamber.
I was curious if anybody had recommendations on how to fix this issue before I spend money on springs.
I'm thinking recoil springs from Wolff at 22lbs and 24lbs, extra power magazine springs, or both.
Might even be ammo, but seems to do it with whatever I throw into it...

Whereas the Glock can do this from limp wristing, the P220 is probably stovepiping live rounds because the back pressure from the can is messing up dwell time; also, the magazine spring is probably old and weak.

You are using a booster device aren't you?

I would get a fresh magazine spring, a variety of recoil springs, and play with load development and seating depth.

My experience with the P220 is that it spits back slow burning powder really bad suppressed; using titegroup helps avert this.

I've got the same rig with an OEM barrel with zero problems with 230 FMJ. How old are your springs?

Do you have access to a flow through suppressor to try? That might fix it.

I'm not real confident there are any true flow through pistol cans. I own an OSS rad 45 and it still uses baffles, just has an extra flow pathway around the outside of them. They call it "radial flow" or some such. I'm not sure if it does anything meaningful because I don't have a standard baffled can to compare it to...

I've seen a few examples on YouTube of people with OPs same problem. Gun reliable with no can, gun has malfunctions with reg can, gun reliable with flow through can. I can't recall what guns off the top of my head. I do recall one guy saying "it won't run with any can so if it runs with this one..." and it ran without a hitch.

My guess is another way to tell would be how much gas in your face with flow through vs reg, bolt speed on some guns such as direct blowback .22/any roller delayed, and how much crud builds up on bolt on roller delayed.

Probably @Sporting Systems is the only one with enough experience of multiple cans to speak on it intelligently. I don't have that experience.

I shoot my P220 suppressed and did notice it had a lot of blowback and was louder compared to the HK USP 45 the "Suppresor " height sights on the P220 were basically useless as well .

I don't have the Obsidian 45 can on any of my hosts, but I do have a P220 and it runs fine with the RAD45, TiRant, Osprey, and Octane cans. The HK45, FNX45, a couple of Kimbers all run just fine as well, with the can i listed.

thanks for your input guys!
The can came with a booster, so that isn't an issue... also greased.
The recoil spring is fresh out of the box (20lbs), but the hammer spring is old (used gun, couldn't say).
Mags are new, could use heavier springs tho.
I'll see if heavier springs will do the trick.

The trijicon irons I bought are working fine, so don't know what the complaint is about... lol

I don't really have many cans accessible, just mine. I suppose I could see if the short configuration helps as well.

The P220 is pretty sensitive to limp wristing too. It was one of my first handgun purchases in my twenties and I had a few stovepipes until I realized the problem.

My 320 kept blowing extractors when shooting suppressed, sig told me it was because I was not using their suppressor.
Sold the sig bought a Glock and all was good.

It's definitely not popular with the soyboys then. :s0112:
I think most of them prefer glock anyway, but that's just a hypothesis! XD

I'll update after I order some springs, I have really been avoiding spending money on springs to have most of them be worthless... the missus already laughed at the last couple orders...
