SAO = Single Action Only?

Did you mean DAO = Double Action Only?

I was under the impression that SAO you had to cock the hammer back then pull the trigger for every shot like the old cowboy shooters.... :winkkiss:

I hope you're kidding... Single Action pistol like a 1911 perhaps...

Single action only simply means the hammer will not be cocked by pulling the trigger.
You must "cock" the hammer by either racking the slid, or thumbing it back before firing the 1st shot.
After that, it's "cocked" by the action cycling after the 1st shot.
A 1911 is a single action auto.

I was pullin' chains when I made my previous post (sorry about that). :p

I used to carry a 1911A1 in the Army... I have a "U.S. Property" marked 1944 Ithaca 1911A1 (that somebody altered into a NM... unfortunately) in the gun safe... they were/are SAO... :D
