Well watching it now .
It's Saturday.
If this would have happened on a weekday.
It would be much worse.
Mercer would have been full of people and cars.
Probably ten times more people would have been killed or hurt.
Still sad deal .

If any body has driven I 5 through Seattle in the last 10 years you can see the cranes
Count them sometimes you can count 25 or 30 cranes

My retired neighbor was a crane operator and he walked off a job because it was too unstable and the company sent up a younger man and later that day it collapsed killing him.

I have a little bit of of crane operator back ground but just Small stuff on fishing boats.
3 ton to 10 ton .
Stuff moving crab pots or fishing nets .
On a boat .
Nothing like this but .
Wind weather is a big deal .
I'm going to say if they were taking apart one.
And the storm moved in .
They were caught off guard.
We had a hell storm moving though here at the same time .it came in quick

Wind has been bad here all day near Ft. Lewis.

I must have slept through the wind. I just got up and saw this on the news and was wondering WTF? When It said 4 dead first thing I thought of was the operator, what a way to go, feeling that damn thing go and noting you could do. It was a miracle so few were actually hurt. Could have been soooo much worse.

I'm a certified NCCCO mobile crane operator, derrick, signalman, and rigger. The operator is responsible for everything! If in doubt shut it down.

This is a very sad story. I heard about it on the radio.

Condolences to the deceased families and may the injured get well soon.
