Its been nearly 20 years now but I had found several good on line help with that, and really, regardless of all the naysayers, had no trouble, but for setting the timing so the scale would reliable indicate the amount of rounds, after several tries, that issue ln the videos were vague and left me frustrated and wanting until I ran across a forum speaking of such things. The clock spring needs to be pre loaded. however, what was never indicated was how much. the trick is to have it just barely snug, almost no tension at all, no real added tension just enough to keep it from being loose, any more and the timing will be in error, and wont indicate the third round. The rest of the tension is applied when you insert the cartridges. Everything in my gut wanted to have it tighter and was difficult to believe the truth about it. having removed it several times and reinstalled it I got pretty good at the overall assembly. Though I no longer have the gun or the downloaded videos but thought I'd tell you about the spring in case you were successful in all other matters and could get it right the first time.
Good luck.

I bought a 99 once that somebody had obviously taken apart as the magazine spring had no tension. I don't remember exactly how I did it, but I just tensioned the spring a turn or two and it was good to go. If you were closer, I'd say bring 'er on over and we'll fix it. It's not all that complicated.

yeh i turned it one full turn to put it back on zero maybe im putting to much tension i watched the above video several times. didnt help i will get it i dont give up easy. this gun needed alot of tlc as i had to remove some rust on areas with a wire wheel and reblue it to keep it from pitting.
