If you are searching the parts suppliers, etc. you might expand your search to include same for Model 23D. I have both Hornet rifles, and I just now tested interchangeability.
The 23D magazine dropped into the 340 like butter. The 340 magazine went tight into the 23D, but came right out. Feed test was successful both ways. The tightness of the 340 magazine in the 23D is almost certainly the result of it being significantly younger and of less wear than the rifle.
These were economical rifles, but carrying a legendary Savage factory barrel, they shoot far better than most people would give them credit for. A buddy has a Ruger 77 Hornet, and was quite pleased with it until he saw these old Savages on target. I sure hope you find what you need.
Here is a magazine for the savage 342 bolt action rifle. It is for the 22 Hornet caliber. It is unmarked but looks exactly like the marked one I had in my rifle and it worked fine in my rifle. $35 shipped thanks Kelly
