I have a Savage Model 116 "Weather Warrior" hunting rifle chambered in .300 Win Mag that I'm ready to part with. I was digging through my safe the other day in preparation for hunting season, and I realized that I hadn't hunted with this rifle for at least 6 years.
I want to be really honest; I don't shoot this rifle well, and I'm not sure if it's my fault or the rifle's fault, but I always reach for one of my other rifles that I'm more confident in. I don't know if my unimpressive shot groups are because this is the only rifle in my safe that makes me flinch, or if there's something that needs re-torqued. I bought it used several years ago and mounted a scope that turned out to be faulty. After mounting a different scope and trying different ammo, I was happy with it for a couple years, but then I started shooting worse with it, and I started using my other rifles instead of taking the time to investigate whether something had shaken loose or if I just suck. So, I pulled the new scope off of it, threw away the rings (I didn't have confidence in them; may have been the problem), and I'm offering the rifle with nothing but the scope mounting bases at a price that reflects that the rifle might need some tinkering. I'm hoping someone will be able to just re-torque the stock screws, re-torque the scope bases, and mount their own scope and have an amazing gun, but I haven't taken the time to do these things, so I'm willing to sell it for $350 to someone that has time to get it sorted. Buyer to pay FFL fees.
I don't always check my messages here, so feel free to call or text me if you want to see it. (503-998-6105).
