I see a lot of them tied up permanently to docks. The Columbia River is not sailing friendly, since the wind generally follow the current down river.
 
I've sailed on the Columbia between the bridges plenty.

Grew up with 16' catamarans in the tropics and 28 footers on the Columbia.

Haven't been in a lot of years and have never had the extra dough to buy and maintain one.

It is a financial balancing act that is for sure.

It is just hard to beat a day on the water.
Boats... a hole in the water that you throw money in. That being said, I want a hewescraft.
 
Sailing is one of the hobbies my wife and I enjoy together. We are starting to look at picking up a boat. We have the fortunw of the sound to sail on.

This is our family hobby my wife is indifferent to firearms.
 
Ive helped out in a few races on the Col and it has its moments. The bad thing about sailing is there's no level place to set your beer.:D
