Purchase a Saiga .223 with 20 round magazines! It sure beats the **** out of the Mini 14.

I wouldn't suggest a Saiga 7.62x39. There are other AK variants out there that get the job done, and require less work.

I've spent enough on my Saiga 7.62x39 (conversion) to purchase two decent regular AK's.
