DS Arms says $1700.00 is msrp and I hear that there is a 6-9 month wait to get them. Is it worth anywhere close to that?

If it costs 1700 from DSA and yours is basically new, you might get very close to that. Yours has the advantage of being no wait. It might take awhile to get that, however, so it partially depends on your timeline. I'm a FAL guy, so good luck!
