These are great guns, before I sold mine it took 3 deer. Winchester makes softpoint ammo and is what I used for hunting. Ballistics are equivalent of the 30-30, good brush gun.

Wondering the same thing. The mini 14 of the same vintage is a 4 to 5 moa rifle. The 580 series of the mini 14 are 2 to 3 moa.

Just FYI, The original was started in 86 or so and went to early 90s. The newer model will say Ranch Rifle near the Mini Thirty on top of reciever and start seial# 580-XXXXX. Both can be accurate with the correct ammo.
