rifled slugs

    This may be a dumb question but I have had others ask me and I don't know. Can you fire rifled slugs from a shotgun without rifling's? Thanks for any help with this.

    Yes, they are designed for non-rifled tubes.. preferably and most commonly a cylinder bore.

    Shoot rifled slugs from a smooth (non-rifled) bore. The best choke is Improved Cylinder (small constriction helps stabilize the slug).
    Shoot sabot slugs from a rifled bore.

    ...and you can shoot sabot's from a smoothbore, but accuracy degrades greatly.

    I've shot some Brenneke KO slugs and I use the improved cylinder choke for slugs. I also shoot Federal XM127 00 and PFC1548-00 with the IC choke as well.
