Remington 870 last shell gets stuck in mag tube any ideas?

I know I'm late to the game on this, but I also had a similar problem with my 870 and the Hogue overmold fore-end, only mine is the 870 Express Super Magnum Synthetic. I removed the barrel, trigger group and bolt and left the Hogue fore-end attached to the fore-end tube assembly and moved it fully against the receiver and took a measurment. When I did the same with the original synthetic fore-end installed the fore-end tube assembly was almost 1/16 of an inch closer to the receiver than with the Hogue fore-end. You could also visibly see a difference in the amount of retraction that the shell latches made between the two fore-ends. I am wondering if the Hogue fore-ends were designed on the regular 2-3/4" 870 receiver and were never extensively tested on the magnums or super magnums.
