Another gun surplus to my needs. This is a Remington 788 that my father in law bought thinking it was a .22-250. After inspection, it turned out it was not in fact a .22-250. I poured a chamber cast and confirmed my suspicion that it is a .250 Savage. It has an unmarked but nicely fit barrel.
So I thought that it was kind of a cool rifle. Then I tried to load an old factory round and found it too long for the .22-250 magazine. By a hair (see picture). I don't have the time or desire to work through this issue. I am guessing rounds could be hand loaded to proper length, but I'm not sure. So I'm sending it off to a new loving home.
So you get a beautiful Remington 788, with a nice stock with just a few marks and small dents (see picture). The bluing is decent with some thinning in high traffic areas like the bolt handle. The price is $475 o.b.o. No trades at this time. Buyer responsible for fees at mid-valley FFL (Albany, Lebanon, Corvallis). No shipping, it's become too much of a hassle and my local FFL's don't have the time anymore.
