I've had a subscription to both the hunt and trails and prefer the hunt version. Wanted to try the trail to find unmapped areas, but I could get most of the info from the hunt, plus it showed property lines which the trail didn't.

I use Gaia for general GPS-ing (routes, terrain, plat maps, etc). basically anything on foot.

I use OnX Offroad for finding trails, camps, etc when I'm driving. I like finding all the difficult roads that nobody else will get through and hunt from there.

You use Oxx Off road to the difficult road and remote roads. It works when no cell coverage is available?

Starlink Mobile Is your friend in this scenario.....

Yup, works great, but I also like to get far away from the vehicle and even though the Mini dish is quite portable, I'm still not lugging the stupid thing with me on foot.

I still like to keep downloaded maps, even when I know I'll have the Starlink with me.

When you download GAIA, that is the only time you download it, and that is the world. It works wherever you are. Make sure you use a tablet that is has built in GPS.

I have used OnX for just over a decade. BaseMap too though for only two seasons. I prefer OnX for Hunting over BaseMap, or anything else for that matter, although I can't comment on GAIA since I have not used it.

If you know the areas you plan to hunt, download them beforehand (you can download as much, or as little as you think you might be covering) and you won't have any problems. OnX will work without downloading most of the time, but it is quite simple to download anyway, so may as well do it. It's a good idea anyway because it can help you better familiarize yourself with the area.

I've been an OnX user for over 4 years, dadded on BaseMap for just a season, but OnX for hunting's my top pick - beats BaseMap and everything else I've tried.
