The problem is brass will bounce off of a cardboard box at 3' so make it a limp backstop,
where you collect it is an easy option to decide.
This was the only thing that ever worked worth a darn while attached to the rifle for me. Of course, if you are static and have space and it isn't raining, a tarp on the ground works well too.
