R.I.P. Ric Ocasek, Lead Singer of The Cars, Dead in New York at 75.


I share as he is the reason my name is spelled the way it is. My high school GF was a fan and started with the 3 letter spelling.
In college, the computers truncated my first name there too (last name, first name ) and it became a permanent thing.

When the Cars hosted Midnight Special, they didn't mug for the cameras with Wolfman Jack or pretend to gush over their "new best buddies," the other bands on the show. Didn't say a damn word, in fact. Instead, in cryptically (and typically) stoic, almost aloof, fashion, they just played some tight, stylish music. Nerd cool defined.
