I went to his estate sale in Buxton, Oregon. He owned the log home, orchard, and air strip next to Hwy 26. It's now Public Coast Farms.

Estate sale was auction, and it took two days to sell everything. He had boxes upon boxes of the buttons given to him by kids on the show. Also hundreds of watches all stored in gallon sized Ziplock bags. Some of the watches were high end but they were all auctioned off by the gallon bag with no sorting or looking.

I liked him. Better than what bubblegumty assed, "Bumpity". I hated that show and would rather watch church tv on Sunday mornings than that green "bump on the lawn"

I don't know much about ramblin rod. I started out with Mr. Moon, a puppet show, and when that show ended, Heck Harper filled the kid show space. I think rambiln rod came after harper. Even then, we weren't allowed much tv time.

Hahaa! Glad I wasn't able to delete this thread! A little trip down memory lane.

On a side note, my best friend back then had his life saved by that show. His Mom knew he would absolutely not miss the Ramblin' Rod Show, but he wasn't in the house so she went looking for him. After searching and yelling for him, as panic set in, she went through the barn again, and thought she heard something. She opened an old refrigerator that they used at certain times of the year to keep cattle inoculations, and there he was. He fell out when she opened it. Barely conscious from lack of oxygen, and couldn't stand or walk for several minutes. Close one! I wonder now how many lives that would've affected had it not turned out the way it did.

I didnt know he died....I was also on his show when I was a kid.
My television debut came a few years before the Ramblin' Rod show - Romper Room circa 1961. Hubba-hubba...

I was never on The Ramblen Rod Show. I do pre-date that however. Heck Harper! A real cowboy. I wore a sixgun and all the cowboy accouterments necessary to be on that great show. Sixth B-day.
