New laws won't take guns from criminals. We already have laws in place to do that. But if an elected "politician" supports existing laws they won't please their liberal voters. Gotta make up new bubblegum to make sure people think they are doing their job...
Heaven forbid they might actually crack down using the laws already in place.

Given that Oregon and Washington are governed by liberal Democrats which are concentrated in the larger urban areas, probably not in the foreseeable future. What is needed, among other things, is a shift in the culture, which recognizes the fact that guns are not evil, that people are.

Popular culture glorifies steroid addicted, moronic actors who misuse guns in a way that grabs public attention. Let's face it, most folks form their impressions of firearms based on what they see in movies and on TV, the vast majority of which is wrong (shows on the Sportsman Channel et al, notincluded).

Until people get involved in reality instead of emotion, the trend will continue. It will take a major effort to motivate gun owners to stand up for our rights. There is an estimated 80,000,000 guns in civilian hands in the, US. The NRA, the largest gun rights organization, has somewhere between 4-5 million members, but less than half of those members are even registered to vote. The numbers who actually vote much lower than that. If you are a gun owner and are not involved and do not vote, look in the mirror. What you see is the problem.
