Tillamook state forest is open to target shooting. Pick a road going into it and look around for known spots. Bring a GPS and plot down the spots you find.

If this is a permanent move and you want a club, check out Douglas Ridge Rifle Club which is in Estacada on the east side of Portland far out of town. Or TriCounty Gun Club. They are closer in. They have a 1000+ wait list, but they are moving through that. It s about a 1 year wait at this time.

Tillamook Forest has spots. There are also many off 26 after you go through the tunnel on the way to the coast. 45 min from Portland.

There are a lot or rules at TCGC because it is in a suburban area. If you want mainly to do shoot on the move, the forest may be better for you. If you are into following rules then TCGC can't be beat.

I qualified for the pits at TCGC but never signed up - there were still a lot of rules, and the stuff I do in the woods would make an RO faint. But how else are you going to find out if you can hit a target while falling hard on your arse?

Scout your map, look at HWY 26 West; the State Forest is a good bet as the private timer owners lock their gates for the fire season, and they are also fed up with litter.

HWY 8 through Forest Grove leads to HWY 6 to Tillamook, there are several opportunities there too.

Look for the quarries.

There are restrictions though, check on line for the complete list; no glass targets, pack in pack out, no tanerite, no tracers, and night (target) shooting in the state forest is also prohibited.
