A late 19th century silver gilt Viking Revival pectoral cross pendant necklace by Paul Telge after the Hiddensee treasure, modelled as Thor's hammer surmounting a Celtic maze design cross, to a rope link neckchain, pendant width 4.9cm, the reverse signed Paul Telge, fitted case with applied label stating H.AHRENS Juwelier in Stralsund Baden.Str.2. Paul Telge 1840 - 1909 In 1873 a 10th century Viking gold hoard was discovered by chance on the German island of Hiddensee in the Baltic. The find consisted of sixteen pieces of jewellery comprising a neck ring, a brooch and fourteen pendants; the jewels are kept in the Stralsund Museum of Cultural History.
Took 5 jewelry experts to get a consensus on appraisal several years ago as another full set has not come to market. Only single pendants have been sold in recent history. Sterling silver with gilding 94.5grams total weight. Have appraisal from a couple years ago.
