In 480 BC a tiny band of Greek city-states faced the largest army in the world, the massive Persian army under Xerxes. The Greeks were greatly outnumbered, at minimum 7 to 1, and historians say it may have been as lopsided as 42 Persian soldiers for every one Greek.

That war 2,502 years ago ranks as one of history's greatest contests, perhaps the greatest. It pitted gritty little Greek democracies against Persian despotism in a direct contest between a fledgling Western culture with its focus on humanity, and the world's most powerful king representing Eastern tyranny. Whichever side won would determine the future of mankind.

Following their stunning stand at Thermopylae (led by the famous 300 Spartans), the Greeks won the war, known as the Second Persian Invasion, after the Athenian general Themistocles wiped out the Persian navy in the Straits of Salamis. Western civilization was saved – literally saved in 480 BC.

History doesn't really repeat itself, but history does enlighten current world dynamics when similar forces and conflicts array themselves. So it is that today we once again see the rise of tyrannical powers hellbent on destroying Western humanity. Whether it be Putin's military aligning against Ukraine, Beijing imposing tyrannical control and genocide over its own people and directly challenging the United States, or Iran's Ayatollah vowing to destroy Israel, we are again coming to the crossroads of history.

Will our Western culture take a stand against these forces of tyranny? Does the West still have the grit and determination to sacrifice the few at a future Thermopylae in order to preserve humanity as we know it? Look at Germany. Look at Biden. Look at France. No, we don't. We won't.

Western civilization will not be saved through hollow speeches. The clock is ticking, and perhaps after 2,502 years this great experiment is nearing its end.

The history books will show that the winged angel Joe Biden came down from heaven and singlehandedly created heaven on earth.

You know, the "other" side views themselves the same way....
LOL. Yeah, and I imagine when an aggressive driver cuts in front of me well past the time a lane was to merge, I should look at it from their point of view.
Neville Chamberlain was certainly sympathetic to Hitler's point of view when he sold Czechoslovakia down the river.
Trying to sympathetically look at issues from an aggressor's and oppressor's point of view is simply rationalization.

Grit and determination are bulwarks against failure and loss. Rationalization always leads to failure and loss. The choice will be ours.

So you're equating international conflict with a little road rage?

When you get cut off in traffic does it really matter how you look at it? Maybe you just let it go, because there are a-holes on the road, and that's part of driving. What would you do, start shooting?

Maybe crew served machine guns existed back then?
When I was driving from one side of the county to the other for work I often wished for one :D
State here has a couple cars that are not "normal" Police Cars. They are some model normally not seen as a Cop. They look normal till all the lights come on. I have to say many time when I would see some kook pull across several lanes and such and all of a sudden all those lights came on I wanted to pull over and clap.:D
Maybe stop and tell the driver in my best Bill Engvall, "here's your sign dummy"
:D

I saw one one day, can't remember what kind, just some normal car, I was at the light getting ready to get on 512. I glance over and sun was hitting the windows, I see the driver has the Smokey the Bear hat on. Damn cars just look like any other until the turn on the lights and they have lights all over the damn things. I LONG ago stopped driving like an idiot so do not get pulled over. Last couple interactions were breakdowns. Last one I was waiting for AAA, Trooper pulls in behind me. Girl with rosy cheeks I swear could not be old enough to drink gets out. I had my License for drive and carry in hand. She just waved them off without even looking. Just asked if I needed help. I have to guess she had already ran my tags. When I said AAA was on the way she drove off. I swear if I was tending bar I would not want to server her she looked so damn young. :D

She's not as young as she looks if we are talking about the same one. They used to use her for the "net nanny" stings on guys trying to pick up underage girls.

Well I bet she would have been perfect for that. This was around 5 or 6 years ago. Girl could EASILY pass for a high school girl at least back then. So she would have been perfect for going after those perverts!

All the Spartans died at the Hot Gates.

They were dispatched knowing their role.

An "all sires" unit. Every man had at least one male heir.

It was the highest honor.
